Farewell and Thank You, Padre Omar!

Having celebrated his final Sunday at Trinity Cathedral (Phoenix) on July 26, 2026, UBE Arizona member The Reverend Omar Rodriguez De la O soon will be off to begin a new chapter in the Diocese of New York!

Padre Omar has served our Diocese since 2023 as the Associate for Community Life at the Cathedral. In 2020, he was the first recipient of the Canon Judith Conley Scholarship for seminarians of color in support of his studies at Virginia Theological Seminary. Canon Judith, who established the scholarship, is the UBE Arizona Vice President-elect and a past President of both our Chapter and the national UBE organization.

Padre Omar joined UBE Arizona at our September 2024 meeting, and we have been proud to have him as a friend and colleague ever since. We are grateful for all his service to the Diocese of Arizona and wish him every success and happiness as he begins his work with the lucky people of the Diocese of New York.
