Volunteer Event at St. Mary’s Food Bank
On Saturday, October 25, 2025, ten dynamic and engaged UBE Arizona members (plus a few bonus helpers!) gathered together at St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix, AZ, with nearly 100 other volunteers from across the valley. As a group, we packed thousands of meals for hungry Arizonans across the state, which were distributed on the following Tuesday.
Food boxes were packed in an assembly-line style, with each member either contributing an item to the box, keeping the packers supplied with additional flats of canned foods, or packing completed boxes onto pallets of 72 for a total of 4,896 boxes! It was only a two hour shift, but my Fitbit let me know I had hit my cardio goals for the day… we were moving right along.
UBE Member and Vice President, Kathryn Elliott-Hudson, organized the volunteer outing for us. She and her late husband Charlie volunteered their time and talent for St. Mary’s Food Bank for many years, so it is a cause very close to her heart.
