UBE Arizona Members Volunteer in Service to Family Promise
UBE Arizona, Joy for Books, and Saint Barnabas on the Desert volunteers unite in service to Family Promise families
Outreach Report: Family Promise. On Saturday, March 14th, our UBE Arizona and Joy for Books team came together with the volunteers at Saint Barnabas on the Desert (Scottsdale) for another wonderful opportunity to share food and fellowship with families working through Family Promise of Greater Phoenix to find stability after becoming homeless.
From a weeks-old baby to two 17-year-olds and all ages in between, our volunteers made a difference in the lives of these children and their parents — and they in ours. We were in awe of the parents’ commitment to making a better life for their children and themselves. Through Family Promise, families are able to remain together while parents receive employment, parenting, and financial coaching, as well as other support, while staying at host congregations like Saint Barnabas for a week at a time.
Our now-famous UBE Arizona dinner Pizza Party was as big a hit as ever; and, coupled with the Joy for Books bookmark-making activity and book giveaway, the evening was fun and fulfilling for guest families and volunteers alike. Joy for Books is a non-profit organization that expands children’s access to high-quality, culturally diverse books by curating and sharing book collections in collaboration with educators and communities, and we are grateful for their continued generous partnership in this outreach.
UBE Arizona is blessed to support the life-changing work of Family Promise of Greater Phoenix!
